Since 2020, Nestlé Hong Kong and the Hong Chi Association have jointly organized the "No. 5 PP Plastic Recycling Program", dedicated to promoting the recycling of No. 5 polypropylene (PP) plastic. The program initially launched in Yuen Long and has now expanded to approximately 80 recycling points across Hong Kong. In July 2024, the program entered its fifth year, continuing to recycle various types of PP plastics, including packaging from Nestlé products. Over the past four years, Nestlé Hong Kong and the Hong Chi Association have collected and sorted over 8,800 kilograms of No. 5 PP plastic, equivalent to more than 266,000 food packaging containers. The program also supports transforming waste into eye-catching products.

Remanufacturing plastic yogurt containers into practical coasters.
We at V Cycle are grateful to Nestlé Hong Kong and the Hong Chi Association for their invitation to turn some of the sorted plastics such as PP into practical coasters through a process of sorting, cleaning, and reprocessing. Together, the three parties have worked hard to promote and encourage clean recycling in the community. In the days ahead, we will continue to strengthen community connections and further promote clean recycling. Each coster is made from 100% recycled plastic yogurt cups from Nestlé.
