In 2020, Unity One Charitable Association and V Cycle Education Foundation joined forces to form the Unity V 賢聚, a partnership rooted in compassion and the belief that by coming together, we can create a brighter future for our communities.

At Unity V, we are guided by the traditional Chinese value of filial piety 孝順 , we treat the elderly as we would our own parents, with love, respect, and care. We believe that every elder deserves dignity, warmth, and a sense of belonging, and we dedicate ourselves to ensuring they feel supported and valued.

Our work is built on the simple but powerful principle: when we care for one another like family, we build a stronger, kinder world.

V Cycle creates opportunities for marginalized elders, including waste pickers and those living alone, through dignified and meaningful recycling work. We engage adults with special educational needs by offering roles that promote inclusion and purpose. Our approach centers on respect, empowerment, and community impact. Together, we redefine value in waste and human potential.

Healthcare, mental and spiritual well-being support

Unity One Charitable Association, has joined forces with V Cycle to provide free daily vegetarian meals, complemented by health and mental well-being activities as well as spiritual support. This collaboration aims to promote holistic wellness and resilience within our community’s workforce. By working together, we are establishing a strong foundation for lasting health and strength, offering our elders the wisdom and support they need to navigate life’s challenges.

Our environment impacts directly on our standard of living, but Hong Kong’s predicament is uniquely distressing given its status as a financial hub and global city. The responsibility of recycling much of Hong Kong’s waste has fallen on the elderly who are forced to rummage through waste bins to find plastic or cardboard scraps.

The average waste picker is a woman between 60 - 89 years old and on a good day she earns a mere $24 HKD. With little opportunity to support themselves, they are forced to labour for over 8 hours a day in order to afford their next meal. They are an integral part of Hong Kong’s ability to salvage plastic and paper for recycling. They are not, however, provided adequate government support or praise for their arduous work. At their most vulnerable state, they are disregarded by the public.

V Cycle’s Circular Hubs generate reliable income for senior cardboard collectors and disadvantaged elderlies. We provide purposeful employment opportunities for youth and adults with special education needs (SEN). Each hub ensures a safe, clean, and supportive environment. Through collaborative recycling efforts with various brands and organizations, we strengthen community resilience and promote sustainable practices.

    At V Cycle, we provide thoughtfully prepared vegetarian meals to strengthen the health of our community, especially vulnerable seniors. Our commitment ensures daily access to nourishing, balanced food that promotes well-being with care and respect.

  • Healthcare support

    We address the persistent challenges of joint pain and illness with precise massages and ongoing health evaluations. Our approach integrates collagen treatments for knee resilience and timely hearing aid replacements, ensuring every measure upholds the dignity and health of our elders.

  • Spiritual discovery

    Lifelong learning, guided by Buddhist principles such as mindfulness, wisdom, and compassion, helps seniors deepen self-awareness and nurture inner peace. It empowers them to face life’s challenges with resilience and kindness while finding purpose and harmony in their golden years.

  • Wellness Programs

    We  offer tailored movement and wellness sessions designed to enhance the health of our senior team members. Our programs also include nutritious cooking classes, fostering holistic care and vitality.
